In case you missed it, my boy Bryce Harper charged mound yesterday:
I love everything about this situation. Bryce was 2-2 with 2 dingers off of Strickland (and REALLY chirped him after the second one) going in to this AB, Strickland plunks him (obviously on purpose) so Bryce charges the mound. I have no problem with any of the above.
I just have one question: what in the hell is Buster Posey doing? He literally doesn’t move. Seriously. Watch it again:
He practically waits until the damn bullpens have arrived in the scene. Rule #1 for a catcher is to protect your pitcher. He should have jumped in front of Harper the moment Harper even looked at Strickland. He didn’t. Not even close.
To make matters worse, here are Buster’s post game comments:
“After it happened, I kind of saw Harper point. Next thing you know he’s going after him,” Posey said. “Those are some big guys tumbling around on the ground. You see Mike Morse, who is about as big as they come, and he was getting knocked around like a pinball. So, be a little dangerous to get in there sometimes.”
C’mon Buster. Even if you are scared of those big mean baseball players, you can’t admit in a post game presser. That makes you looks like a huge sally. Plus you’re sneaky a bad teammate if you don’t protect your guys. That’s 101 stuff man. There’s only ONE WORD to describe you:
