(Via ESPN)As good of an offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin is, he might be even better at internet trolling. The former USC head coach and current Alabama offensive coordinator couldn’t resist taking a swipe at his former employer a day after the top-ranked Crimson Tide handed the Trojans a 52-6 smackdown — one of their worst defeats in history.
As most college football fans know, USC athletic director Pat Haden fired Kiffin at 3:14 AM on the Tarmac at the LAX airport following the Trojans’ 62-41 loss to Arizona State in 2013.
In January, Kiffin called that moment the lowest part of his career, but did clarify that — contrary to popular belief — he wasn’t actually fired on the tarmac at Los Angeles International Airport when Haden gave him the news.
“I was a good 20 yards off the tarmac,” Kiffin said. Roll Tears (of laughter) Roll.
This is classic. I imagine the conversation goi g something like this: “You wanna fire me at 3:14 AM in an airport? Well I certainly won’t forget about it. And when I play you again I will put a 50 spot on you and ruin your hopes and dreams. How do you like them apples?”
Ok, maybe it didn’t go just like that, but I’m going to go with it. Such a sav move by Kiffin. Win the fight on the field and on the interwebs, that’s 21st century athletics to a t.
This was such a huge game for USC. People were starting to think they were back and could win the conference and blah, blah, blah. Well a 52-6 dumpster fire of a game will send those dreams crashing down real hard.
P.S. I’m not necessarily a huge Lane Kiffin guy, but I LOATHE USC. I don’t even know how it started, but I hope they lose every game they ever play.
